I approach my work in the same way I wish others to experience it: invited by a pot’s utility and allured by it’s subtle layers of reference.
My wheel-thrown porcelain pots rely heavily on the material phenomenon of clay; volumes forced by swelling, fissures caused by pressure, and tearing due to weight. I alter freshly thrown forms to resemble an action that has just occurred or a moment frozen in time.
I think of these forms as imagined space through which I build landscape and terrain. I approach my work in the same way I wish others to experience it: invited by a pot’s utility and allured by it’s subtle layers of reference.
